just when you think you have things under control...

why not add a new puppy to the mix?!! As far as the kids were concerned, daddy was just buying another skidoo to wheel and deal, but when he arrived home from Bathurst and told them he had another surprise for them in the backseat of the truck, the first words out of Alex's mouth were "this is the best surprise ever!" and I have to agree. From the moment Chevy got out of the truck and wandered around in his laid back style, I knew he was the perfect fit for our family. One never knows when buying something sight unseen off kijiji!! At first, I am sure Mak just thought he would only have to put up with him for a couple of days (as is usually the case when other dogs are at our house) but now that Chevy is growing bigger, he seems to be enjoying having him to boss around. And Chevy's laid back attitude is starting to rub off on Mak's border collie tendencies!! Alex had had the name Chevy picked out ages before we decided to get him..."for when I get my own puppy someday", he had been saying!

We received an email with photos of the puppies that were still available from the litter and this little guy melted our hearts at first glance!!

On the five hour drive to his new home! (note how big he is next to his food dish)

Playing with Mak!

Chevy is a mix of Golden Retriever, Great Pyranees and Bernese Mountain Dog, he loves the snow and prefers to be outside during the day (even in -20 celsius!)

We bring him to the rink during Alex's hockey practices for socialization...and he usually ends up sleeping most of the time! The seats are heated, so he inches to a cool spot every couple of minutes!!

Chevy is starting to learn to do tricks...this is him and Mak waiting for the command that they can have their treats that are at my feet!

And his favourite place to hang out inside is in front of any door that has a draft coming through!! We quickly learned that he gets much too hot in his crate so crate training isn't happening for this fellow. We just keep him blocked off in a small area (that has a drafty door) at night and when we go out...so far so good with not finding anything chewed or any mysterious puddles!!

And check out how big he is compared to his food dish!! He grew 10 pounds in the last 3 weeks!! (and yes, he uses his dish for a pillow sometimes).
